2 Examples of Extreme Overcrowding in China

19 Sep

Most people already know that China is the world’s most populous country with more than 1 billion people. Well, here’s two examples of how the country deals with having that many people they need to care for.

1) 66 Children In One Small Van: Police officers in Hebei Province stopped a small van that they suspected of carrying too many children. Inside, they found 66 young schoolchildren crammed into a space that was supposed to carry eight people at most. Someone had removed the backseat and placed four wooden benches in its place. The police provided 12 vans to get the children home safely.

2) That is One Swimming Pool: This scene comes from Daying county in Sichuan province. An underground lake has “salt content is similar to that of the real Dead Sea.” Apparently one hour inside is equivalent to eight hours of sleep. Thus, the crowds of people come.

Foo Fighters Brilliantly Taunt Westboro Baptist Church

18 Sep

Hours before they took the stage in Kansas City, the Foo Fighters pulled up in a pickup truck, decked out trucker hats, wigs and fake bushy beards, to serenade members of the Westboro Baptist Church who were protesting their concert.

Their impromptu set featured a song called “Keep it Clean,” which includes the line “I’ve got a hankering for something, think I’m in the mood for some hot man-muffins.”

The Westboro Baptist Church, led by rapid anti-homosexual preacher Fred Phelps, called for protestors to picket the concert because the band promotes “fornication, adultery, idolatry (and) fags.”

Frontman Dave Grohl took to the mic in the middle of the song and said, “I don’t care if you’re black or white or purple or green, whether you’re Pennsylvanian or Transylvanian, Lady Gaga or Lady Antebellum, it takes all kinds!”

Just one day after a devastating crash at the Reno Air Show that left 9 people dead, a second fatal accident has occurred, this time in West Virginia. The incident happened at the Thunder Over the Blue Ridge Open House and Air Show in Martinsburg. A local newspaper, The Journal, reports the pilot has been killed and suggested he might have been  Jack “Flash” Mangan.

The rest of the event has been cancelled. Officials encouraged spectators to reach out if they feel like they witnessed a traumatic event. The crash occurred around 2:30 p.m. and involved a T-28, World War II-era aircraft.

Reno Air Race Crash Kills At Least 10

16 Sep

Update 2: Officials announced that the death toll from the crash has risen to 10, including the pilot.

Update: There is some footage of the crash and the aftermath here. Warning: the video is extremely graphic and disturbing.

At least three people are dead following the horrifying crash of a World War II vintage fighter airplane at the Reno Air Show. Among the dead is the pilot, Jimmy Leeward, 74. A veteran airman and movie stunt pilot, Leeward lost control of the airplane on his third lap of the audience.

More than 50 people were injured in the accident. Witnesses described a horrific scene of severed body parts and blood near the impact spot.

The P-51 Mustang plane, nicknamed “Galloping Ghost,” crashed into the box seating area of the venue. “Just the sound of the impact was unbelievable,” Witness Gary Miller said. “Almost can’t believe you saw what actually happened.”

Chuck Testa Makes Hilarious Taxidermy Commercial

15 Sep

Boy, if you haven’t heard of Ojai Valley Taxidermy (and why would you have?), you will know it after this unintentionally hilarious one-minute commercial.

Chuck Testa specializes in making the most “life-like dead animals anywhere. Period.”

Various locals spot an antelope driving a car, have a bear in their bed, spy a leopard on their deck and even glimpse a rhino ordering a drink. But actually, NOPE because they’re all dead!

Best local commercial since this gem.
