Hours before they took the stage in Kansas City, the Foo Fighters pulled up in a pickup truck, decked out trucker hats, wigs and fake bushy beards, to serenade members of the Westboro Baptist Church who were protesting their concert.
Their impromptu set featured a song called “Keep it Clean,” which includes the line “I’ve got a hankering for something, think I’m in the mood for some hot man-muffins.”
The Westboro Baptist Church, led by rapid anti-homosexual preacher Fred Phelps, called for protestors to picket the concert because the band promotes “fornication, adultery, idolatry (and) fags.”
Frontman Dave Grohl took to the mic in the middle of the song and said, “I don’t care if you’re black or white or purple or green, whether you’re Pennsylvanian or Transylvanian, Lady Gaga or Lady Antebellum, it takes all kinds!”
Good for them for standing up to haters like the Westboro Baptist Church. The great thing about a free country: you sometimes get back what you dish. Brilliant!
