Dwight Schrute From the Office Getting a Spinoff

27 Jan

Rumors have merged that Rainn Wilson, who stars as Dwight Schrute in The Office, could be getting his own show that would debut in spring 2013. The show would take place at Schrute Farms, the beet farm and B&B that Dwight runs on the show.

Wilson has been working with executive producer Paul Lieberstein (Toby from the show) about turning the spinoff idea into a reality.

“Paul and Rainn have been joking for years about Dwight’s life on the farm, his family and how ill-suited he is to run a B&B,” a source told Deadline. “A while ago, it started to feel like a show to them. NBC agreed, it’s been further developed to include multiple generations, many cousins and neighbors. At its base it will be about a family farm struggling to survive and a family trying to stay together.”

Does this spell the end for the beloved show? Hard to imagine The Office without Michael Scott or Dwight Schrute.

Most Awkward Use of Gloria Estefan Song?

23 Jan

Back in 1989, Gloria Estefan was pretty much on top of the world. She had a new lead single, “Get on Your Feet,” which would become the name of her forthcoming world tour (that tour was cut short by a near-fatal bus crash). The song rose to number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Since then, the song has been used sparingly, but extremely effectively, in pop culture. My vote for most awkward use has to come from Steve Ballmer, CEO of Microsoft, who went nuts to the song during his introduction at an internal employee-only pep rally back in 2001. This is the type of dance I do in my room when no one is watching.

So that would be the pick for most awkward, but then Parks & Recreation used the song in this amazing bit. This is so awkward, but hilarious.

Chuck Testa Makes Hilarious Taxidermy Commercial

15 Sep

Boy, if you haven’t heard of Ojai Valley Taxidermy (and why would you have?), you will know it after this unintentionally hilarious one-minute commercial.

Chuck Testa specializes in making the most “life-like dead animals anywhere. Period.”

Various locals spot an antelope driving a car, have a bear in their bed, spy a leopard on their deck and even glimpse a rhino ordering a drink. But actually, NOPE because they’re all dead!

Best local commercial since this gem.

Babies Behaving Badly

18 Mar

Sometimes kids do the darndest things.

1) Baby’s First Swear Word: This little kid must have been around a potty mouth parent. She learned a colorful word really quickly.

2) Children Using the Internet Earlier: 80 percent of all children between the ages of 0 and 5 use the internet on a weekly basis. Between the ages of 0 and 3, 47% of technology use occurs in front of a television. With that in mind, 60 percent of children under age 3 watch videos online. Kids are also multitasking, using the internet and the TV simultaneously. You know, because they have to live-blog their favorite episodes of “Dora the Explorer” from their smartphones.

3) World’s Youngest Alcoholic at Age 3: A British child has been treated for symptoms of alcohol dependency at a local hospital. What’s truly horrifying is that the child is 3. Doctors believe the baby was given alcohol on a regular basis for at least 6 months. Alcoholism remains a huge problem in the UK.
