T-Mobile Makes Viral Royal Wedding Parody Video

16 Apr

Everyone probably remembers that wedding entrance from a couple years ago that went viral. Well, telecoms company T-Mobile (until it becomes AT&T) still produces advertisements and this one is a brilliant combination of that original viral video and the a royal wedding spoof. Apparently, Prince William and Kate Middleton are getting married soon.

That song is “House of Love” by East 17.

Rent Liechtenstein for $70,000 a Night

15 Apr

If you have $70,000 to spend renting an entire country, then donate it to charity. Thanks to a partnership between Rent a Village by Xnet, a Liechtenstein-based event company, and Airbnb, you too can rent the entire country of Liechtenstein for one evening. To get the most bang for your buck, the company reccomends bringing at least 150 people and suggests customizing the country to fit your needs.

Among their suggestions: changing the names of streets and roadways, printing a temporary currency or carving a large brand into the snow in the mountain. You’ll be happy to know that the national marching band and performing troupe will welcome you with a customized show or you can schedule a wine tasting from the prince’s palace.

Fireworks and personalized ski outings are possible as well. Minimum of two nights per stay. Oh, and no cancellations. Snoop Dogg tried (and failed) to rent the whole country last year. That was before this partnership. The country is around 160 square kilometers and has around 35,000 people.

Quinonez Wilson Scores Goal From 270 Feet Away

14 Apr

It’s pretty safe to say that it will take a long time for anyone to top this goal. Colombian goalkeeper Quinonez Wilson scored on a free kick from 83 yards away. That’s more than 270 feet away from the goal. Following the goal, he received a yellow card for removing his shirt in celebration. Some people claim this is a new world record, but who knows. Also, note the lack of people in the stands.

No idea who played in or who won this game.

Scary New Footage From Japan Disasters

12 Apr

With each coming day it seems like there is a new horrifying video from the Japan disasters. In this case, here’s a new video of the tsunami and new aerial footage of the damage to the Fukushima Nuclear Reactor site (which was just today reclassified as a 7 on the disaster scale, out of a possible 7).

1) Tsunami Footage: This horrifying footage shows villagers fleeing on foot as the wall of water flows into their city. It looks like everyone makes it to the hill, but just barely.

2) Fukushima Damage: New aerial footage shows how devastated the nuclear power plant reamins. These images are particularly shocking because the situation actually seemed to be improving previously.

Politicians Caught Red Handed Doing Dastardly Things

12 Apr

One of the great disadvantages to being a public servant is the cameras are always on you. Now, you would think that would make politicians more careful. These two incidents, however, prove that is not always the case.

1) Czech President Steals Chilean President’s Pen: Czech President Vaclav Klaus welcomed Chilean leader Sebastian Pinera to his country and held a meet and greet. At a press conference, he noticed a really nice pen that belonged to Pinera. As the cameras rolled and Peinera began speaking, he took out the pen, switched hands and then pocketed it. All without blinking an eye. He also retained a really guilty look on his face. Most baffling about the whole incident? Why Klaus decided to steal the pen at that moment and why he looked completely uninterested in what Pinera was saying.

2) Indonesian Member of Parliament Busted Watching Porn in Chamber: Again, where do you think you are? The man, who goes by the single name Arifinto, was spotted watching the sexually explicit clips as members of parliament debated a proposed constructing a new building to house the government. Ironically, Arifinto was one of the key supporters of a strict anti-pornography law that went into effect recently. Under that law, he could face years in jail for his offense. Arifinto immediately resigned from parliament and said his staunchly Islamic Prosperous Justice Party did not coerce him to resign. He claims he accidentally opened a random e-mail with the offensive content.
