Terrifying Footage of Joplin Tornado

23 May

A tornado nearly three quarters of a mile wide ravished the city of Joplin, Missouri and killed 89 people. The tornado touched down around 6 p.m. on May 22 and cut a four-mile path of destruction, severely damaging an area hospital and destroying hundreds of homes in the surrounding area. There were 68 reported tornadoes over the weekend throughout the country.

Two storm chasers appear to have captured one of the only videos of the storm, as it strikes the town. Jeff and Kathryn Piotrowski of TornadoVideos.net uploaded this clip to YouTube shortly after the storm first touched down. It also shows them driving through the town of Joplin shortly after the storm, and gives a sense of the utter destruction there.

This image shows the damage to the area hospital. Thankfully, staff members were able to move patients into the hallways before the tornado struck.

This video actually gives a sense of what it was like to take cover as the storm passed overhead. There isn’t much video, but the audio is horrifying to hear. Hats off to the brave people who kept everyone calm.

A helicopter flew over the town and attempted to chronicle the devastation.

Residents survey the damage of their neighborhood after the disaster.

Finally, this eerie video shows the town after the tornado. The devastation is overwhelming.

513 Migrants in 2 Trucks

21 May

Police at a checkpoint in Southeastern Mexico discovered 513 migrants inside of two trucks bound for the United States. Officials in the state of Chiapas said the men were coming from Guatemala and were traveling in dangerous conditions. Some of the migrants were severely dehydrated and there was no food or water provided for them.

Someone had cut air holes in the bottom to allow air to enter the truck. There was no word on whether a drug gang was responsible for organizing the transportation, but migrants told police officials that they paid $7,000 each for passage.

Police arrested four people from Central and South America and Asia in connection with the crime. They spotted the migrants when the trucks were X-rayed at a checkpoint. See a photo from that inspection above.

Massive Inland Tsunami on Video

Venezuela Suspends Driver’s License For First Time Ever

20 May

Following the rules of the road has always seemed to be a suggestion, not mandatory, in most of Latin America. Well, never has that been made clearer than today.

For the first time in the history of Venezuela someone’s driver’s license has been suspended. That’s right, it has never happened before. Ramon Parra, 41, is a bus driver there and has become the first person to lose his license for 12 months.

What was Parra doing? Well, according to news reports, he was “driving at excessive speed in a large, overladen passenger bus that was missing one of its rear wheels. The bus was packed with more passengers than legally permitted and one of its six wheels was wedged in an aisle inside.”

A law allowing authorities to suspend a license was first passed in 2008. The maximum possible suspension is 5 years. Why would you get that? For killing someone.

Playing the Piano With Your Penis

20 May

Two random brothers go on “Greece Has Talent” (or something like that) and show off what they can do: play a piano with their penises.

What a world. Am I right?
