A winning recipe for launching a pop music career? Apparently, getting a bunch of the biggest tween stars in the world to dance in the silliest way possible to the perfect pop song is a good way to go.
Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Alfredo Flores, Ashley Tisdale, the guys from Big Time Rush (?) and other huge tween stars somehow came together (after what seemed to be a fun evening) and recorded this low budget lip sync to Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe.”
There is an official music video, but it has 19 million views fewer than the tween sensations’ YouTube inspiration.
It is pretty much pop gold. You can pretend to hate it, but you’re pretending.
So the Internet has given us some pretty awesome performances of some of our favorite artists and songs over the past week. The highlights?
1) Javier Diaz (Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam): Appearing on the Chilean “Mi Nombre Es,” Diaz covered Pearl Jam and sounded almost identical to Vedder. Impressive, no?
2) Marc Martel (Freddie Mercury of Queen): Martel is part of a Christian rock group from Saskatchewan, Canada called downhere. Well, despite that inherent contradiction, he sounds identical to Mercury…The song is “Somebody to Love.”
3) moymoy, Roadfill and Rhian Ramos (Nicki Minaj): Say what you want, this lip sync is AMAZING. Wonder what Nicki thinks of this? Best of the year by far. These guys are from the Philippines by the way. Song is “Super Bass.”
