Representative Virgil Peck is fed up with state of immigration in Kansas. He’s so fed up that at a committee meeting he suggested having hunters in helicopters shooting at illegal immigrants like farmers control the feral pig population.
Peck later said he was joking, but was unapologetic about the comment. “I was just speaking like a southeast Kansas person,” he told the LJ World. His remarks were immediately condemned by fellow Republicans and Democrats in the assembly.
The state is considering several bills that could decrease the illegal immigrant population. Peck said he believes the controversy has passed and that his constituents agree with his sentiments.
