Over 1,000 Birds Drop Dead Out of the Sky

The small town of Beebe, Arkansas got an unwelcome beginning to 2011 when more than 1,000 birds fell dead out of the sky. Officials do not know what caused the sudden deaths of the animals, but plan to perform tests soon to identity a cause of death.

“It could be weather-related or possibly stress-related,” said Keith Stephens, a spokesman for the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. “There were some fireworks shot off at midnight and it is possible that the birds were on their roost and stressed so bad that it could have killed them.”

Family Members Threaten to Kill “Harry Potter” Actress

The brother of Afsan Azad, who played Padma Patil in the “Harry Potter” movie franchise, pled guilty to threatening to injure her for dating a Hindu man. Azad is Muslim.

Though Ashraf Azad and Azad’s father were acquitted for threatening to kill the actress, the court found them guilty of threatening bodily harm.  Both men “emphatically” denied any wrongdoing. The incident occurred in May at the family’s home in Manchester.
